The Cóndor Bank has a special feature: fishing is completely prohibited, making it the first protected underwater mountain in the Azores Islands. This underwater mountain, with over 180 meters of depth, has become very popular in recent years due to the possibility of diving with sharks. Very close to Faial Island and accessible through a 1-hour boat trip, the sharks approach the divers through chumming (throwing viscera and blood remnants around the boat without feeding the sharks) to descend down the cape and prepare for an hour of diving with some of the fastest and most elegant sharks in the ocean.
