Dolphin House, also known as Sha'ab Samadai Reef, is a 1.4 km long and 1 km wide crescent-shaped reef that provides a perfect habitat for dolphins and a variety of reef fish. This area, where daily sightings of between 20 and up to 300 dolphins occur, has strict measures for the preservation of resident dolphins, allowing snorkeling only in three designated and well-marked areas, with restricted numbers of boats and divers.
If you love dolphins as much as we do, you'll adore our dolphin T-shirts. You might even fall for our diving sweatshirts ;-)
This reef in the Red Sea, sheltered from winds, currents, and predators, allows dolphins to rest and recover from their nighttime hunts. Females can lower their guard, allowing their calves to swim freely. The time dolphins spend in this resting area is essential for social interactions, mating, and, therefore, respecting the wildlife in this area is crucial for dolphins to continue benefiting from this privileged environment in Marsa Alam.

The best hours to see dolphins in the wild are between 10 am and 2 pm, especially in summer, when currents and winds are less strong. During these hours, dolphins come to take shelter, and at night, they head out to open sea to feed. Watching dozens of dolphins of all ages, from large adults to calves, in complete freedom, listening to their clicks and whistles, appreciating their spins, jumps, and turns, is a truly extraordinary experience.
In addition to the dolphin spectacle, this reef has many other attractions. Its walls are completely covered with coral, and a large number of reef fish live in it. Dives are often drift dives, near the pinnacles in the southwest, being shallow and easy dives. We'll find beautiful gorgonians, hard and soft corals, giant turtles, small sharks, rays, with some luck, a dugong, and it's possible to spot a spinner dolphin passing through the area.
